Could Perry used insanity like lowell lee tried to do
Lowell Lee Andrews was a fellow inmate on death row along with Dick and Perry. Andrews went to the University of Kansas and was an honor student. He seemed like a normal Kansas boy. Lowell Lee in the inside isn't the same person as Lowell Lee on the outside. On the inside he had brutal thoughts of killing his family. At first he wanted to posion them with Arsenic. Then he figured he would get caught if he had done that. Andrews changed his plan that he was going to kill them and then make the crime scene look like it was a robbery. He shot his sister first then his mother and last his father. Andrews later called the police saying there was a robbery at his house. When the police arrived he was sitting on the front proch like everything was normal and there weren't three ddead bodies on the floor. A coroner asked him what to do with the bodies he responded with, "I don't care what you do with them" (314). This nonchalance attitude Andrews had shocked the police officers. They had suspected him of doing it all. In the court he pleaded, "...innocent by reason of insanity" (315). Andrews went through medical diagnosis. The diagnosis showed that he was a, "schizophrenic, simple type" (315). Simple meant that he didn't suffer from delusions or anything else of that type. Dr. Joseph Satten said that, "Lowell Lee Andrews felt no emotions whatsoever...it seemed to him just a right to kill his mother as to kill an animal or a fly" (316). Dr. Satten felt as if could kill a person just like that and it has no effect on Andrews. Andrews is mentally sick if his conscience doesn't kick in at all. But could Perry been sent to the hospital for the crimanally insane? My answer is probably. Perry wasn't a simple schizophrenic, he was a paranoind one. Which means he actually suffered from delusions and false perceptions.
