Repetition and Point of View
Repetition and point of view, these two things have a profound effect on the book In Cold Blood. I found that in this book the never really, except for a few times, called Mr. Clutter by his first name Herb. I don’t have any Idea why Truman Capote called him Mr. Clutter every time when he was referring to him, capote also rarely used pronouns when describing Herb he would always say Mr. Clutter this and that. I believe that he was doing so for two reasons for simple repetitions’ sake and so that after reading this book the reader will never forget the names of the victims, because as it has been true for most of history the killer is remembered and the victim is eventually forgotten because after committing murder the people are forever know as monsters. Point of view is also important because it can completely change someone’s idea of how they thought of a person for example when Capote found out that even though Dick may have dragged him in to going to the house Perry slit Mr. Clutter throat and shot the whole family himself without Dick telling him to and with out warning he killed an entire family of four. Capote originally believed that Perry was mostly innocent and that Dick forced him to be a part of the killing however once he found out the real truth it stunned him and he became a drunk and he later died due to complications due to alcoholism. Perry had an IQ of about 130 which is thirty points over the average person yet he still committed an exceptionally idiotic and horrific act when he decided to kill and innocent family of four in an unnecessarily brutal way.
