Sympath

After reading the first part of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and seeing the movie Capote it has become clear to me that through the writing in the book and the imagery in the movie both capote and the director are trying to force the audience to sympathize with some one. In the book Capote got me to feel sorry for Mr. Clutters’ Daughter and her boyfriend because on it seemed as though they couldn’t have done anything to anyone that would make them the target of coldblooded murderers. In the movie capote says that he and Perry grew up in the same house only Capote left out the front door and Perry went out the back. Capote clearly sympathizes with Perry because they both had parents who didn’t pay attention to them forcing them to find attention where ever they could however they could. Capote found attention by being the life of a party and speaking loudly so everyone can hear him at parties and social events. However Perry left out the back door and found companionship with Dick and was dragged into being a part of the murders with Dick. This is similar to the movie rope in that a hidden subtle homosexual relation ship that forces the passive one to take part in murder even though if they weren’t in this situation they probably wouldn’t have taken part in killing anyone ever. This also brings in to account the idea of nature versus nurture which is while Capote and Perry had the same nurture (experiences, childhood, etc.) their nature was different, (personality, genes, how you are or your code, etc.).
