Persons Unknown

The second part of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, called Persons Unknown is an interesting title that leaves some things out I will try to fill those crakes. One quote that I believe hints towards who the unknown people are is, “‘Deal me out, baby,’ Dick said. ‘I’m a normal.’ And Dick meant what he said. He thought himself as balanced, as sane as anyone-maybe a bit smarter than the average fellow, that’s all. But Perry –there was, in Dick’s opinion, ‘something wrong’ with Little Perry.”(108) This quote hints towards a number of things one of them is that Dick has a hard time contemplating that he could be a monster that killed four people in cold blood he would rather put the blame on Perry who actually killed the Clutters. In other words Dick is unaware of the monster inside of him the one that tries to run over animals and had said leave no witnesses yet they didn’t even wear masks or even try to protect their identity and they went at night when they knew everyone would be at home. Dick was the one to come up with this plan and he did plan on killing the Clutters but is mad that he was never able to follow through with what is in his mind a perfect crime. In this quote Dick is also saying that he is perfectly normal and Perry is the cold blooded killer, which is foreshadowing to the end in which you find out that Perry is the actual killer. However Perry has the exact same opinion of Dick that Dick does of him. They both believe that the other person is the one who’s at fault for all of the killings.
