Similarities and Differences between Rope and In Cold Blood

In the book "In Cold Blood", we are introduced to the killers Dick and Perry very early. Capote describes Perry as someone who hates to see people happy, and Dick as someone who has been in and out of jail. The similarities to Brandon and Phillip is that there are two killers just like in "In Cold Blood". While they are talking in the diner, Perry is suspisious about this whole murder act, "something tells me this is a trap," (90). Perry is nervous about this whole thing just like Brandon was in Rope. However, Brandon is the person who acts weird and is nervous after. As readers, we find out that Perry is the one who killed all of the family members, like we saw in the movie "Capote". That is about it for the similarities. Otherwise, the two murder groups are complete opposites. In the movie "Rope", they plan out the murder being something that they tested to see if it would work. They ended up killing their classmate and then hid him in the room and had his family over. That is the complete opposite to what Dick and Perry did in "In Cold Blood". First, the two were not even planning on killing the Clutter family. They went in there to rob the house for money. Then, when something went wrong, they ended up killing the whole family. They then tried to escape right after the act to try and get as far from Kansas (where Perry wasn't even supposed to be) as possible. Also, the murderers left shoe prints and evidence behind causing them to be caught. Everything they did went wrong, and in "Rope" everything went as planned until the end. However, after the whole murder was over, Perry became very nervous about getting caught, which the team eventually did. Perry and Dick are similar to Brandon and Phillip, however, they are also very different.
